SABIC Europe to open logistic hub in Poland
July 27, 2006
SABIC Europe is to further expand its polymer supply network in Central Eastern Europe by opening a logistic hub in Poland. A contract was signed on July 26 with Nijhof Wassink to provide the logistic services. The expansion of the distribution network is an integral part of the strategy of SABIC Europe to grow in Central Eastern Europe.
The major warehouse operation for polymers imported from Saudi Arabia will be established in Kutno, Poland. Hubert Guth, Director SABIC’s sales offices in Europe said: “The overall, strategic ambition of SABIC Europe is growth. The best market to realise this growth at this moment is in Central and Eastern Europe. To achieve this goal, you need a sales and distribution network in this region. In May we already opened a sales office in Hungary and now we’re opening a logistic hub in Poland. They will both serve as a platform for growth in the CEE region.” The hub is expected to be operational from January 1, 2007.
Improved service
"By opening a hub in Poland, SABIC underlines its dedication to create more value for its Central and Eastern European customers by securing local supply, reducing delivery lead times and increasing delivery reliability," said SABIC Europe Demand Chain Management Director Marc Houtermans. “It supports SABIC’s commitment to develop its position and service level more strongly in the Central and Eastern European market.”
Close to customer
Piotr Kwiecien, Sales Office Captain Poland said: “Many local and international companies are opening new plants in Poland which leads to a very strong growth in the plastic consumption. With the new hub, SABIC will be closer to its customers and able to support their growth. The Polish sales office was opened in 2004 and has grown successfully since then. The Polish hub is the next logical step for our presence in this market.”
