SABIC UK, based in Redditch, South West Birmingham has been operating in the UK for over 30 years. We have established a very strong position in the Polyethylene and Polypropylene business with a market share of around 15%.
We have a strong position in most market segments with particular emphasis on film extrusion, blow moulding and injection moulding. We cover these markets with a full range of PE materials – LD, HD, LLC4 and LLC6; and PP materials Copol, Hopol and Random and compounds for Automotive applications.
We are supplied with product directly from our two European megaplants at Geleen in the Netherlands and Gelsenkirchen in Germany and production from Saudi Arabia. The latter of which is transported into our logistics hub in Ipswich for distribution within the UK.
In addition, in 2008 we will also be supplied with LDPE from our new 400,000 tubular reactor at Wilton in Teesside. This will be SABIC’s first PE plant in the UK and it is appropriate that it is based at the site where Polyethylene was invented over 50 years ago. This new plant will enable us to provide a wider product portfolio and excellent support to the UK PE market.
SABIC UK is lead by Michael Allen, the General Manager with an experienced team of 12 people including internal and external sales people.
